MR. REEVES CAME UP THROUGH THE RANKS, IF YOU WILL, THROUGH ADMINISTRATION AND THEN HAS DONE A GREAT JOB IN DELVING INTO THE WORLD-- IN YOUR AND IN LEARNING TO BE A PRINCIPAL TO GET THAT CERTIFICATION AND ALSO A SUPERINTENDENT, BUT AGAIN, TO BE A CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER REQUIRES GREAT SKILL.

ONE OF THE THINGS I LOVE ABOUT FARLEY IS HE IS NEVER SHIES AWAY FROM A CHALLENGE.

THE STRATEGIC PLAN RESULTS, JUST AS A REMINDER, ARE DIVIDED INTO FOUR YEARS OF IMPLEMENTATION. AND WE ARE CURRENTLY IN YEAR FOUR.

YOU HAVE YEAR FOUR GOALS AND THE EIGHT SPECIFIC RESULTS, I BELIEVE THAT LISA EMAILED BACK TO YOU AND IT SHOULD LOOK LIKE THE PICTURE IN THE MIDDLE.

SO WE WORK THROUGH THE GOALS TONIGHT.

WE'RE GOING TO START WITH GOAL NUMBER THREE.

HOW DO WE ENSURE AUTHENTIC LEARNING EXPERIENCES AND ASSESSMENTS? SPECIFICALLY, HOW ARE WE EDUCATING TEACHERS ON EFFECTIVE STRATEGIES TO USE WITH DIVERSE LEARNERS AND FAMILIES? SO NEW FOR THE TWENTY TWENTY ONE SCHOOL YEAR, THE CNI TEAM HAS FOCUSED ON PROVIDING TEACHERS WITH MULTIPLE OPTIONS FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT.

DIFFERENTIATED PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CREATES A LOT OF OPPORTUNITIES THAT CATER TO THE INDIVIDUAL NEEDS OF OUR TEACHERS.

AN EXAMPLE OF THIS MODEL IS CAPTURED ABOVE.

ON JANUARY 18TH DISTRICT PD DAY TEACHERS WERE PROVIDED WITH A CHOICE BOARD.

THE CHOICE BOARD ALLOWED TEACHERS TO SELECT DIGITAL COURSES USING OUR DIGITAL RESOURCES WITHIN SCHOOLOGY COURSES WERE DEVELOPED BY OUR CONTENT COORDINATORS AND COACHES.

BUT PARTICULARLY, I WANT TO HIGHLIGHT THE STRESS MANAGEMENT AND SELF CARE EDUCATOR FORCE LED BY JULIE PRATT AND AMY SMALLWOOD.

AND YOU CAN SEE I JUST PUT A YELLOW ARROW RIGHT THERE.

AND THIS IS SOME TEACHER COMMENTS THAT YOU CAN SEE IN THE MIDDLE AFTER THE PD THAT WE DELIVER, WE REACH OUT TO TEACHERS AND WE ASK THEM, WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS? HOW DID IT IMPACT YOUR PRACTICE? AND YOU CAN SEE ONE OF OUR TEACHERS SAID THAT STRESS IS NOT THE ENEMY, THAT I CAN HELP HEAL MY BODY BY SIMPLY CHANGING MY MINDSET ABOUT STRESS.

STRESS CAN HELP ME BE STRONGER.

AND ANOTHER TEACHER SAYS, I LIKE THE MINDSET OF TAKING MEANING INSTEAD OF AVOIDING DISCOMFORT. SO JUST WANTED TO UPDATE YOU ON THAT.

THAT WAS ONE OF OUR MOST POPULAR COURSES ON THAT DAY, WE GOT A LOT OF POSITIVE FEEDBACK, SO LOTS OF APPRECIATION TO MS. PRATT AND MS. SMALLWOOD. ALSO, FRENSHIP REQUIRES THAT ALL STAFF COMPLETE [INAUDIBLE] TRAINING.

ELP STANDS FOR ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY STANDARDS.

THESE INSTRUCTIONAL STANDARDS ARE DESIGNED TO ENSURE THAT ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS ARE TAUGHT THE ACADEMIC ENGLISH THEY NEED FOR SCHOOL.

AND AFTER COMPLETING THE TRAINING, TEACHERS ARE BETTER EQUIPPED TO KNOW THE LEVELS OF THEIR STUDENTS AND MONITOR THEIR PROGRESS.

IN ADDITION, WE ARE ALSO EDUCATING OUR ENGLISH LEARNERS ON HOW TO SUPPORT LITERACY AT HOME THROUGH OUR PARENT ENGAGEMENT NIGHTS.

AND OBVIOUSLY THOSE PARENT ENGAGEMENT NIGHTS HAVE LOOKED A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT THIS YEAR, BUT OUR PRINCIPALS ARE ADAPTING AND ADJUSTING AS WE NEED TO.

FRENSHIP ALSO OFFERS MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAMS, WHICH INCLUDE PRE-AP, ADVANCED PLACEMENT AND DUAL CREDIT.

TO ENSURE THE QUALIFICATIONS OF TEACHERS WITHIN THESE COURSES, FRENSHIP REQUIRES A FOUR DAY PRE-AP AND AP SUMMER INSTITUTE THAT IS ALSO LED AND DELIVERED THROUGH THE COLLEGE BOARD.

AS WE CONTINUE WITH ANOTHER SPECIFIC RESULT IN GOAL NUMBER THREE, CREATE A PRODUCT BASED AND PRESENTATION BASED ASSESSMENT OPTIONS.

THE CNI TEAM, IN COLLABORATION WITH OUR TEACHERS AT ALL GRADE LEVELS, HAVE COME TOGETHER AND WORKED ON A LIST OF ASSESSMENT OPTIONS.

AND THESE OPTIONS ARE JUST AUTHENTIC PRODUCTS THAT ARE CREATED BY OUR OWN STUDENTS.

AND YOU CAN SEE SOME OF THOSE PICTURES AND PRODUCTS LISTED ABOVE.

THEY ALLOW OUR STUDENTS TO SHOW AND DEMONSTRATE THEIR LEARNING IN A DIFFERENT WAY OTHER THAN A TRADITIONAL BUBBLE OR MULTIPLE CHOICE ASSESSMENT.

THESE OPTIONS ARE EMBEDDED INTO SCHOOLOGY, SO ALL OF OUR TEACHERS HAVE ACCESS TO THOSE.

AND IN ADDITION, YOU CAN SEE A PICTURE OF OUR STAFF UP ABOVE.

THIS IS THE TIGER TECH SQUAD AND THE TIGER TECH SQUAD IS MADE UP OF FORTY SIX K THROUGH 12 TEACHERS THAT COLLABORATE MONTHLY WITH AN EMPHASIS ON USING TECH TOOLS FOR ASSESSMENT AND GIVING STUDENTS CHOICES ON HOW TO BEST SHOW THEIR LEARNING.

GOAL NUMBER FOUR, WE WILL ESTABLISH AND PRESERVE THE CHARACTER, CULTURE AND TRADITIONS OF FRENSHIP ISD, CREATE A FRENSHIP ALUMNI PROGRAM TO PROMOTE THE TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE IN LEARNERS. WE REALLY HAD TO DIG DOWN AND FIGURE OUT SPECIFICALLY WHAT'S THE WHY BEHIND THIS AND THE WHYS TO DEVELOP A PATHWAY FOR ENGAGEMENT AND CONNECTION WITH THE YOUNG ALUMNI OF FRENSHIP HIGH SCHOOL.

SO IN SEPTEMBER OF TWENTY TWENTY, OUR DIRECTOR OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND INNOVATION, KEITH, MET WITH OUR COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT AND THE FRENSHIP FOUNDATION LEADERSHIP TO DISCUSS A POTENTIAL NAME, A BRANDING AND A SCOPE OF THE PROGRAM.

AND IN THE MIDDLE THERE YOU SEE THE GRAPHIC THAT IN COLLABORATION WITH ALL THOSE GROUPS THAT THEY CAME UP WITH AND IT TURNED OUT PRETTY PHENOMENAL.

IN DECEMBER, WE HELD A LUNCH AND LEARN AT FRENSHIP HIGH SCHOOL ABOUT INTERVIEWING AND

AUSTIN PHILLIPS AND AMY BAKER TEAMED UP AND PRESENTED TO EACH LUNCH PERIOD, AND THERE WERE AROUND SEVENTY FIVE STUDENTS IN ATTENDANCE.

SO WE REALLY TOUCHED ON A LOT OF KIDS THAT DAY.

FUTURE. WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD? WHERE ARE WE GOING WITH THE YOUNG ALUMNI? WE PLAN TO ENGAGE AND TRAIN OUR SPEAKERS TO INTEGRATE SPEAKERS INTO OUR EXISTING CLASSROOMS AND ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES AND THEN MARKET OUR PROGRAM INTERNALLY AND EXTERNALLY FOR GROWTH.

GOAL NUMBER SIX, ENSURE CONSISTENT SCHOOL AND PARENT CONNECTIONS.

THIS HAS BEEN REALLY CRITICAL THIS YEAR AS WE HAVE EMBRACED VIRTUAL LEARNING.

BUT CREATE A PROTOCOL THAT FOCUSES ON COMMUNICATING THE GROWTH IN THE PROGRESS OF THE LEARNER. SO CLASSROOM TEACHERS CAN COMMUNICATE PROGRESS AND GROWTH WITH PARENTS AND LEARNERS THROUGH OUR TEAMS MEETINGS, REMIND EMAIL, PHONE CALLS, COMMUNICATION LOGS, THE TRADITIONAL ONE ON ONE CONFERENCES, REPORT CARDS, PROGRESS REPORTS, OUR, OF COURSE, OUR ASSESSMENT DATA FROM STAAR DATA TO OUR MAP DATA TO SPECIFIC CLASS, PRE AND POST CLASSROOM TESTS THAT OUR TEACHERS ARE GETTING AT PROGRAMS. WE CONNECT WITH FAMILIES AT OUR TIPS CONFERENCES AND THEN SPECIFICALLY MULTIPLE WAYS THAT PARENTS KNOW THAT OUR PARENTS NEED IT.

SO THIS YEAR, OUR TEACHERS HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY FLEXIBLE TO MEET THE NEEDS.

IF PARENTS ARE NOT ABLE TO COME FACE TO FACE AND OR VIRTUALLY, WE HAVE REALLY GONE ABOVE AND BEYOND TO MEET THE NEEDS OF OUR PARENTS.

AND YOU'VE SEEN THIS BEFORE, DR.

MCCORD HAS JUST TALKED TO YOU AND EXPLAINED WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS.

OK, SO A COUPLE OF THE SCHOOL BOARD POLICIES THAT I MENTIONED BEFORE, YOU HAVE SCHOOL BOARD POLICY DC LEGAL THAT DEALS WITH TEACHER CONTRACTS.

A CONTRACT BETWEEN A DISTRICT AND AN EDUCATOR MUST BE FOR A MINIMUM OF 10 MONTHS OF SERVICE. AN EDUCATOR EMPLOYED UNDER A 10 MONTH CONTRACT MUST PROVIDE A MINIMUM OF ONE

HUNDRED AND EIGHTY DAYS OF SERVICE.

AND THIS CALENDAR DOES.

A SCHOOL BOARD POLICY [INAUDIBLE] LEGAL THAT DEALS WITH THE LENGTH OF THE SCHOOL YEAR.

AND EACH SCHOOL YEAR, A DISTRICT SHALL OPERATE FOR AT LEAST SEVENTY FIVE THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED MINUTES, INCLUDING TIME ALLOCATED FOR INSTRUCTION, INTERMISSIONS AND RECESS FOR STUDENTS. THEN YOU HAVE SCHOOL BOARD POLICY EB LEGAL.

IT STATES A DISTRICT MAY NOT BEGIN INSTRUCTION FOR STUDENTS FOR A SCHOOL YEAR BEFORE THE FOURTH MONDAY IN AUGUST.

HOWEVER, WE ARE A DISTRICT OF INNOVATION AND HOUSE BILL EIGHTEEN FORTY TWO IN PART AMENDED CHAPTER 12 OF THE TEXAS EDUCATION CODE TO CREATE DISTRICTS OF INNOVATION AND DISTRICTS ARE ELIGIBLE FOR DESIGNATION IF CERTAIN PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS ARE MET AND THE DISTRICT FOLLOWS PROCEDURES FOR ADOPTION AS OUTLINED IN THE STATUTE.

THE DESIGNATION PROVIDES THE DISTRICT WILL BE EXEMPT FROM CERTAIN SECTIONS OF THE TEXAS EDUCATION CODE THAT INHIBIT THE GOALS OF THE DISTRICT AS OUTLINED.

FRENSHIP IS CONSIDERED A DISTRICT OF INNOVATION, AND THE DISTRICT'S DISTRICT OF INNOVATION PLAN DOES ALLOW FOR EXEMPTION OF THE SCHOOL BOARD POLICY I MENTIONED EARLIER ABOUT THE START DATE.

STAFF DEVELOPMENT EFFECTIVE IN THE TWENTY EIGHTEEN, TWENTY NINETEEN SCHOOL YEAR.

TEA OFFERED NEW STAFF DEVELOPMENT MINUTES WAIVER THAT PROVIDED FOR A MAXIMUM OF TWENTY ONE HUNDRED TOTAL WAIVER MINUTES TO USE FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR DISTRICTS AND CHARTER SCHOOLS THAT PROVIDE OPERATIONAL AND INSTRUCTIONAL MINUTES.

AND THE CALENDAR PRESENTED TO YOU MEETS ALL OF THOSE QUALIFICATIONS.

A LITTLE BIT OF BACKGROUND ON THIS CALENDAR FOR THE PROPOSED TWENTY ONE, TWENTY TWENTY TWO CALENDAR. THAT'S A MOUTHFUL.

ALL FRENSHIP CAMPUSES WILL OPERATE ON A FOUR HUNDRED AND SIXTY MINUTE PER DAY SCHEDULE.

YOU CAN SEE RIGHT HERE ON THE LOWER PART OF THE SCREEN THE MINUTES FOR EACH ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE SCHOOL AND THE HIGH SCHOOL.

AND YOU CAN SEE THAT WE ARE WELL OVER THE SEVENTY FIVE THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED REQUIREMENTS.

THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL IS SCHEDULED FOR MONDAY, AUGUST 16TH, AND THEN THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL IS SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY, MAY 19TH, WITH FRENSHIP HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION ON MAY 20TH. AND THERE ARE ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY ONE DAYS SCHEDULED OF INSTRUCTION IN THIS CALENDAR. THAT'S EIGHTY ONE DAYS FOR THE FALL SEMESTER AND NINETY FOR THE SPRING SEMESTER. AND THEN THE TWENTY TWENTY ONE, TWENTY TWENTY TWO CALENDAR ALSO INCLUDES TWO FLEX DAYS FOR FRENSHIP STAFF.

THOSE ARE THE PROFESSIONAL STAFF DAYS YOU SEE RIGHT HERE ON NOVEMBER TWENTY SECOND AND TWENTY THIRD. AND THOSE ARE REQUIRED DEVELOPMENT HOURS THAT CAN BE ACCOMPLISHED BY ATTENDING ALTERNATE TRAININGS DURING THE SUMMER.

HOW WE DID RECEIVE INPUT ON THIS CALENDAR.

OK, SO WE MET WITH A CALENDAR COMMITTEE TWICE IN JANUARY, AND THAT CONSISTED OF STAFF REPRESENTED FROM EVERY CAMPUS ALONG WITH CENTRAL OFFICE.

AND THEN WE ALSO ADDED A COUPLE OF PARENTS INTO THAT COMMITTEE TO GET FEEDBACK.

AND THEN WE PUT OUT A ONE WEEK SURVEY TO GET FEEDBACK AS WELL.

WE HAD ABOUT NINETEEN HUNDRED PEOPLE FILL OUT THAT SURVEY.

THAT'S ABOUT FIVE HUNDRED MORE THAN WE HAD LAST YEAR.

AND THAT BREAKDOWN WE HAD, ABOUT 60 PERCENT WERE PARENTS, ABOUT THIRTY EIGHT PERCENT WERE STAFF MEMBERS AND ABOUT TWO PERCENT IDENTIFIED AS COMMUNITY MEMBERS.

AND THEN FOR THE ACTUAL CHOICES, WE HAD ABOUT FIFTY SEVEN PERCENT IN FAVOR OF DRAFT B AND ABOUT FORTY THREE PERCENT IN FAVOR OF DRAFT A, AND WE DID GET A LOT OF THANK YOU COMMENTS THIS YEAR BECAUSE I KNEW WE ADDED MARTIN LUTHER KING JR.

DAY AS A HOLIDAY FOR BOTH STAFF AND STUDENTS.

THIS YEAR AND IN PREVIOUS YEARS, IT'S ONLY BEEN A STUDENT HOLIDAY AND STAFF DEVELOPMENT DAY. SO EVERYONE WILL HAVE THAT DAY OFF IN BOTH OF THESE DRAFTS.

AND THEN THE MOST FREQUENT COMMENT WE GOT WAS IN FAVOR OF DRAFT B BECAUSE PARENTS AND STAFF DID NOT WANT STUDENTS TO COME BACK AFTER GRADUATION.
