OVER THE SPRING, WE BUILT A PROGRAM WITH UNITED.

THE TEACHERS WERE ACTUALLY A PART OF BRAINSTORMING THE WHOLE THING FROM THE BEGINNING.

IT'S A FIVE-YEAR PARTNERSHIP AND SO THERE'S A FINANCIAL COMPONENT AND IT'S HELPED US BUY SOME EQUIPMENT.

OUR CULINARY PROGRAM HAS A NEW FLAT-TOP GRILL, THANKS TO THE PROGRAM.

OUR FLORAL DESIGN PROGRAM HAS A NEW COOLER, AN EXTRA COOLER IN THEIR ROOM FOR THEIR FLOWERS, BUT WE'RE NOT GOING TO CHECK PRESENTATION AND WE'RE NOT DOING THAT BECAUSE REALLY FROM THE BEGINNING, THE CONVERSATIONS WITH THESE FOLKS BEHIND THIS WERE HOW CAN WE GET FRENSHIP STUDENTS AND PROFESSIONALS IN THE UNITED FAMILY TOGETHER TO THE BENEFIT OF BOTH.

THE TEACHERS ITSELF BRAINSTORM THAT SO I'M GOING TO BE QUIET.

THIS IS SYDNEY TIPTON, SHE'S OUR ADVANCED CULINARY TEACHER, FRESH OFF FROM MATERNITY LEAVE.

WE'RE GLAD YOU'RE BACK. SHE'S GOING TO TELL YOU A LITTLE BIT ABOUT WHAT THAT'S SUPPLICATE LIKE IN THE CLASSROOM.

I'M THE ADVANCED CULINARY TEACHER AT OUR HIGH SCHOOL.

THIS PAST SPRING IS ACTUALLY MY FIRST YEAR TEACHING.

SO I WAS HONORED TO GET TO LEARN ABOUT THE PARTNERSHIP THROUGH UNITED.

THEY BROUGHT DEMONSTRATIONS INTO THE CLASSROOM.

WE WORKED WITH THE BAKERY, THE DELI, SEAFOOD.

THE STUDENTS WERE ABLE TO ACTUALLY LEARN THINGS THAT I COULDN'T PROBABLY PROVIDE MYSELF.

THEY WERE LEARNING PIPING SKILLS AND THEY LEARNED HOW TO FILLET FISH, FABRICATE A CHICKEN, THINGS LIKE THAT.

THEY GOT THAT REAL-WORLD EXPERIENCE THAT I CAN'T OFFER IN THE CLASSROOM.

SO INSTEAD WE BROUGHT REAL WORLD INTO THE CLASSROOM AND NOW MY PRACTICUM STUDENTS ARE GOING TO HAVE INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES THROUGH UNITED.

EVERY DAY I TEACH THEM FIRST, THIRD, FIFTH PERIOD EVERY DAY.

SO THEY'LL BE ABLE TO GO TO UNITED IN THE MORNING AND WORK IN ONE OF THOSE DEPARTMENTS.

SO I'M JUST SUPER HONORED TO BE A PART OF THIS PARTNERSHIP RIGHT NOW.

ONE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS WE BRAINSTORMED WAS GETTING AG KIDS CONNECTED TO THEIR PRODUCE BUYERS OUT IN THE FIELD AND SEEING THAT SIDE OF THE SUPPLY CHAIN AND HOW THOSE THINGS ARE HAPPENING.

I THOUGHT THAT WAS INCREDIBLE. SO THOSE ARE THE KINDS OF THINGS WE'RE DRIVING TOWARDS.

WE HAVE GREAT PARTNERS ACROSS THE COMMUNITY.

I WANT TO MAKE THAT HAPPEN AND THAT'S WHERE THEY START.

UNITED IS LEADING THE WAY WITH THAT.

THE WORK YOU ALL ARE DOING TO PREPARE KIDS TO GO INTO THE WORKFORCE, I THINK IT'S JUST INCREDIBLE WHAT YOU'RE DOING.

WE JUST WANT TO BE A PART OF IT.

NOW THIS IS THE FOURTH YEAR IN A ROW.

THE LITTLE BIT STUDENT COUNCIL HAS BEEN GIVEN THE STATEWIDE EXCELLENCE IN LEADERSHIP HONOR AND FOR A GOOD REASON.

TONIGHT, LITTLE BIT PRINCIPAL, JENNIFER PIERCE IS HERE TO HELP US RECOGNIZE THESE STUDENTS AND TELL US ABOUT THEIR SERVICE TO THE CAMPUS AND TO POSSIBLE THAT STUDENTS AS WELL.

>>YES. THESE STUDENTS HAVE WORKED VERY HARD.

NOT ONLY HAVE THEY TAKING THE PLACE OF OUR PTA IN RECENT YEARS, BUT THEY HAVE ALSO JUST GIVEN BACK TO THE COMMUNITY.

ONE OF THE FAVORITE THINGS THAT THEY'VE DONE IS TO PACK BACKPACKS FOR ALL OF THE KIDS.

SO THEY LEARNED TO GIVE BACK AND THEY'VE RAISED MONEY.

WE HAVE ALSO CREATED A SCHOLARSHIP FOR THE HIGH SCHOOL FOR SPECIFICALLY FOR WILLOW BEND STUDENTS.

WE WERE ABLE TO GIVE $2000 DOLLARS.

WE GAVE $1000 DOLLAR SCHOLARSHIP AND THEN TWO $500 DOLLAR SCHOLARSHIPS.

SO WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO DO A LOT WITH THESE GUYS AND THEY WORKED REALLY HARD AND WE'RE JUST SUPER PROUD OF THEM AND THERE'S THEIR SPONSOR ELISA.

WE SAW A RECOGNITION OF UNITED.

THAT WAS AN INCREDIBLE PARTNERSHIP TO GROW AND PUT TOGETHER.

WE BRAINSTORMED WITH MANY OF OUR DIRECTORS AND OUR TEACHERS ACROSS [INAUDIBLE] FLORAL AND CULINARY, AND WE TALKED ABOUT HOW WE COULD MOVE THE NEEDLE FOR SOME STUDENTS, AND HOW WE COULD DO REALLY NEAT, DIFFERENT INNOVATIVE THINGS TO BUILD PATHWAYS TO EMPLOYMENT WITH UNITED, TO GET THEM JOB HANDS-ON TRAINING, GET THEM IN FOR JOB SHADOWING, INTERNSHIPS, WHAT WE COULD DO TO BUILD PATHWAYS, AND TO GIVE THEM A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT UNITED CAN DO.

WHEN YOU HAVE A LARGE EMPLOYER LIKE THAT, IT EXTENDS BEYOND THESE TWO PROGRAMS, WHAT WE CAN DO AS WELL.

WE'VE ACTUALLY HAD MEETINGS WITH UNITED ABOUT PARTICULARLY OUR PHARMACY TECH PROGRAM, AND WHAT WE CAN DO TO BUILD IN SOME GREAT THINGS THERE, AND THEY HAVE SOME REALLY NEAT IDEAS AS WELL FROM THEIR SIDE WITH HOW WE CAN NOT ONLY GET STUDENTS IN THE STORES, BUT THEY CAN PROVIDE TRAINING AIDS FOR US AT FRENSHIP HIGH SCHOOL, SO THAT'S REALLY EXCITING.

I KNOW THAT TIFFANY PUT TOGETHER SOMETHING MUCH NICER FOR THAT RECOGNITION, SO THANK YOU TO COMMUNICATIONS, BUT HERE'S JUST A COUPLE OF PICTURES FROM SOME OF THOSE, AND YOU CAN SEE, I MEAN, I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHERE TO START, BUT DOING THINGS LIKE THAT IN A FLORAL DESIGN PROGRAM, I THINK IS INCREDIBLE.

JUST THE EXPERIENCE THEY'RE GETTING, AND WE TALKED A LOT ABOUT NON-COLLEGE-BOUND STUDENTS, AND BEING ABLE TO GAIN JOB-READY SKILLS AND GO TO WORK, BUT THINK ABOUT COLLEGE-BOUND STUDENTS WHO NEED A JOB DURING SCHOOL.

THERE'S A LOT OF OPPORTUNITY THERE TO GAIN SKILLS IN THESE PROGRAMS AND TO BUILD RELATIONSHIPS WITH PLACES THAT CAN HIRE THEM.

OUR COMMUNITY PARTNER TOURS ARE ALSO STILL GOING ON.

THEY WENT LAST YEAR AS WELL.

WE'VE ACTUALLY HAD TWO THIS SCHOOL YEAR.

WE HAD ONE OVER THE SUMMER WITH COVENANT.

WE DID A SITE VISIT AT OUR HEALTH SCIENCES PROGRAM.

WE HAD MEETINGS WITH THEM, TALKED ABOUT WAYS TO OPEN UP SOME JOB SHADOWING THERE.

MAYOR POPE CAME ON A TOUR.

DR. MCCORD WAS WITH US ON THAT ONE AS WELL.

I INCLUDED THIS ONE BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT ILLUSTRATED SOMETHING INTERESTING.

DAN CAME ALONE. IT WASN'T A PHOTO OP. IT WASN'T ANYTHING LIKE THAT.

HE JUST WANTED TO SEE HOW WE DID THINGS AND WHAT WE WERE DOING, AND HE WENT ON BASICALLY A NORMAL TOUR THAT WE WOULD TAKE ANYWAY.

HE GOT TO SEE A FEW MORE STUDENTS, BASED ON THE TIME OF DAY THAT WE WENT, BUT WHAT IT GAVE DR. MCCORD AN OPPORTUNITY TO DO TOO WAS JUST TO ADVOCATE.

TO ADVOCATE FOR FRENSHIP.

TO ADVOCATE FOR MAYBE SOME DOORS THAT MAYOR POPE COULD HELP OPEN IN THE COMMUNITY.

NEW COMMUNITY PARTNERS THAT WE COULD CONNECT WITH.

I THOUGHT THAT WAS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY AND A WAY TO SHOW HIM WHAT WE'RE DOING, TO MEET SOME STAFF, TO SEE SOME KIDS IN ACTION, JUST LIKE ANY TOUR, BUT WE APPRECIATED HIM AND I WANTED TO MAKE SURE TO INCLUDE THOSE.

THAT LEADS ME ALSO INTO OUR YOUNG ALUMNI.

AN INITIATIVE TO GET STARTED LAST YEAR, WE HAD 13 SPEAKERS IN 2020/2021.

THEY SPOKE TO AROUND 400 STUDENTS AT FRENSHIP HIGH SCHOOL IN DIFFERENT WAYS.

WE DO HAVE SOME GOALS FOR THIS YEAR THAT WE'RE GOING TO WORK ON.

I'M WORKING WITH TIFFANY'S STAFF ON THAT.

THIS WAS FROM THE LAB THEATER.

THE HEALTH SCIENCES CENTER BROUGHT THREE FRENSHIP GRADUATES BACK TO TALK TO FRENSHIP STUDENTS ABOUT THREE DIFFERENT PATHWAYS TO MEDICAL SCHOOL.

THEY DID AN INCREDIBLE JOB.

OBVIOUSLY, THEY'RE INCREDIBLE STUDENTS THAT THEY WERE FAMILIAR WITH AS WELL.

THEY HAD STAFF UP THERE AND IT WAS WELL ATTENDED.

STUDENTS SIGNED UP ON THEIR OWN AND CAME AND HAD GREAT QUESTIONS, AND WE WERE REALLY INTERESTED IN THAT AS A PATHWAY.

NOW, THAT'S THE HIGHEST LEVEL AS FAR AS HEALTH SCIENCES GOES.

THEY CAME AND SPOKE TO MULTIPLE PROGRAMS ABOUT MULTIPLE TOPICS AND AT ALL LEVELS.

WE'RE WORKING TO BUILD THE FUTURE OF THAT PROGRAM TO PUT TOGETHER A DATABASE TO WORK ON BROADER COMMUNICATIONS, AND BUILDING THAT BASE FOR THAT PROGRAM TO GROW AND CONTINUE INTO THE FUTURE, AND TO WORK ALONGSIDE THE FRENSHIP FOUNDATION TO MAKE SURE THAT IT CONTINUES BEYOND THE YOUNG ALUMNI AND TO ALL THE ALUMNI AS WELL.
