NO SIR. MY FAVORITE TIMES OF THE MEETING, SO I'M GOING TO TURN OVER TO MS. TIFFANY. WELCOME BACK, BY THE WAY AND WE'RE EXCITED TO BE ABLE TO RECOGNIZE SEVERAL DIFFERENT STUDENT GROUPS TONIGHT.

FIRST UP, WE HAVE SPEECH IN THE OF THIS.

THEY COME UP AND PARENTS, IF YOU WANT TO GET UP AND TAKE SOME PICTURES, FEEL FREE TO DO SO, BUT TONIGHT WE'RE RECOGNIZING THREE FRIENDSHIP HIGH SCHOOL SPEECH AND DEBATE STUDENTS. RECENTLY, THESE STUDENTS COMPETED IN A DISTRICT UIL COMPETITION AND QUALIFIED FOR THE UIL STATE CONGRESS CONTEST EARLIER THIS MONTH, ACTUALLY LAST WEEK.

THE STUDENTS TRAVELED TO AUSTIN TO COMPETE IN THE 9TH ANNUAL STATE CONGRESS.

TONIGHT WE HAVE FRIENDSHIP HIGH SCHOOL SPEECH AND DEBATE SPONSOR HEATHER BYERS HERE TO HELP US TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE COMPETITION AND TO RECOGNIZE HER STUDENTS.

HEATHER, GOOD EVENING.

FIRST OF ALL, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR RECOGNIZING US.

I MEAN, THE STUDENTS AND FOR ALL OF THEIR HARD WORK AND DEDICATION.

I ONLY HAVE ONE OF MINE TONIGHT BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL BUSY.

WE HAVE ONE AT WRESTLING PRACTICE.

I KNOW WE HAVE ONE THAT SOCCER AND SO IT'S JUST REALLY AWESOME THAT THEY GET TO DO ALL OF THESE AMAZING THINGS AND FRIENDSHIP OFFER THOSE OPPORTUNITIES FOR THEM.

SO WE'RE EXCITED TO BE HERE TONIGHT.

SO CONGRESS IS EXACTLY WHAT IT SOUNDS LIKE.

IT IS A MOCK CONGRESS LIKE YOU WOULD IF YOU WENT TO THE TEXAS SENATE.

IF YOU WENT TO THE WASHINGTON SENATE, THEY HAVE BILLS AND RESOLUTIONS THAT THE STUDENTS HAVE WRITTEN THEMSELVES, THAT THEY THEN ARGUE AND DEBATE WITHIN THE ROUNDS, AND THEN THEY TRY TO PASS THOSE BILLS AND RESOLUTIONS WITHIN THE ROUND.

IT'S A LOT OF HARD WORK, IT'S A LOT OF FUN WORK, AND THESE GUYS HAVE WORKED REALLY HARD AT IT. I THINK AMBER HAS GONE TO STATE THIS IS MY SECOND.

THIS IS OUR SECOND TIME GOING TO STATE CONGRESS, WHICH IS REALLY EXCITING AND THEY JUST WORK REALLY HARD AT IT AND WE'RE JUST REALLY PROUD OF HOW WELL THAT THEY HAVE DONE IN THIS COMPETITION.

WE DID NOT BREAK TO FINALS THIS YEAR, BUT WE WERE IN THE TOP HALF OF ALL OF THE ROOMS THAT OUR STUDENTS COMPETED IN.

SO I WAS REALLY PROUD OF THEIR PERFORMANCES.

SO I WOULD LIKE TO GIVE AMBER MCFARLAND A SENIOR.

SO I'M LOSING HER AND WILL NOT HAVE HER BACK NEXT YEAR.

HERS AND THEN JAVON DESHON AND THELMA AL-HAZMI WERE ALSO COMPETING, BUT THEY ARE OFF DOING ALL OF THEIR OTHER TEENAGER THINGS.

SO I THINK DOING.

[APPLAUSE] CONGRESS HAS BEEN AROUND FOR A LONG TIME BECAUSE I WAS ACTUALLY A CONGRESS COMPETITOR OR WHATEVER IN THE EIGHTIES.

FRIENDSHIP HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL ATHLETES FOR THEIR EXCELLENCE ON AND OFF THE COURT.

WE HAVE FOUR VOLLEYBALL SENIORS WHO RECEIVE THE HONOR OF ACADEMIC ALL-STATE THROUGH BOTH THE TEXAS HIGH SCHOOL COACHES ASSOCIATION AND THE TEXAS GIRLS COACHES ASSOCIATION.

NOW, IN ORDER TO RECEIVE THIS AWARD, THE STUDENTS MUST MAINTAIN A HIGH GPA AND BE OF GOOD MORAL CHARACTER AND TONIGHT WE HAVE HEAD VOLLEYBALL COACH TORI WINCHELL TO HELP US RECOGNIZE HER PLAYERS AND THEIR ACHIEVEMENTS.

GOOD EVENING. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR HAVING US HERE.

SUPER EXCITED TO BE ABLE TO CELEBRATE THESE FOUR SENIOR GIRLS FOR GOING ABOVE AND BEYOND THE CALL. SO THEY DO GREAT THINGS FOR US AS A TEAM ON THE COURT IN AND OUT OF THE SCHOOL YEAR. SO SUMMER, EARLY MORNING WORKOUTS, ALL OF THOSE THINGS, BUT THESE KINDS OF AWARDS ARE REALLY SPECIAL BECAUSE THEY'RE ALSO TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS ABOVE AND BEYOND IN THE CLASSROOM AS WELL. SO IT'S NOT JUST SOMETHING THAT THEY DO IN THEIR FREE TIME.

YOU CAN TELL IT'S A PART OF WHO THEY ARE AND THEIR CHARACTER AND WHAT THEY BRING TO THE TABLE AS A PERSON AND SO, LIKE MS., TAYLOR SAID, THAT HAVE A HIGH GPA THROUGHOUT ALL THE YEARS OF PLAYING VOLLEYBALL.

SO THROUGH THE PAST FOUR YEARS FROM THEIR FRESHMAN TO SENIOR YEAR AND ONE OF THEM WAS A NINETY FOUR GPA AND THE OTHER WAS A NINETY TWO.

SO THERE'S A LOT TO BE PROUD OF IN THERE, AND WE'RE PROUD OF THEM FOR AGAIN, NOT ONLY WHAT THEY DO ON THE COURT BUT ALSO IN THE CLASSROOM.

THIS GROUP OF 12 SENIORS ARE BEING HONORED FOR THEIR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE IN THE CLASSROOM, AND WE'RE RECEIVING ACADEMIC ALL STATE THROUGH THE TEXAS HIGH SCHOOL COACHES ASSOCIATION. AGAIN, THIS MEANS THESE STUDENTS MAINTAIN A HIGH GPA AND ARE OF GOOD MORAL CHARACTER. WE HAVE HEAD FOOTBALL COACH JAY NORTHCUTT HERE TONIGHT TO HELP US RECOGNIZE HIS STUDENTS AND THEIR ACHIEVEMENTS.

[APPLAUSE] I THINK THAT WE HAVE A COUPLE MORE SURPRISES THIS YEAR OUR ENGINEERING AND ROBOTICS STUDENTS USE SCHOOL BOARD RECOGNITION MONTH AS A PROJECT TO HONE IN ON THEIR SKILLS THAT THEY'VE BEEN LEARNING THROUGHOUT THE CLASSROOM.

THIS IS SHANGHAI'S NINTH GRADE STUDENTS IN THE INTRODUCTORY ENGINEERING CLASS.

LEARN ALL ABOUT WHAT YOU DO AS A SCHOOL BOARD, AND THEN THEY ALSO RESEARCHED IT A LITTLE.

THEY USE THEME RISING ABOVE, AND THEY CAME UP WITH INDIVIDUAL IDEAS TO USE FOR THEIR PROJECT. THEY SKETCHED THEM OUT, DESIGN THEM DIGITALLY, AND THEN THEY WERE ABLE TO ACTUALLY USE THE 3D PRINTERS TO PRINT THEM.

SO WHAT YOU SEE IN FRONT OF YOU? I THINK THERE'S A COUPLE OF HOT AIR BALLOONS THAT GO ALONG WITH THEME.

GREG, I THINK YOURS WAS THE BLIMP.

[LAUGHTER] YEAH, BUT NO, IT WAS GREAT FOR THOSE KIDS TO BE ABLE TO REALLY TAKE THE PROJECT FROM SCRATCH.

HAVE AN IDEA AND THEN ACTUALLY CREATIVE WITH THE 3-D PRINTER AND THEN THE STUDENTS IN MR. HOLLOWAYS ROBOTICS AND PROJECT BASED CLASSES.

HE THEY TOOK THE TIME TO DESIGN THESE CUSTOM NAMEPLATES FOR EACH OF YOU AND THEN I'M GOING TO HAVE CABINET, IF YOU ALL WOULDN'T MIND, HELP ME PASS THESE OUT.

THAT'S AWESOME AND SO A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THESE.

THE STUDENTS WERE ABLE TO TRANSFER THEIR DESIGN TO A SOFTWARE PROGRAM THAT THEN ALLOWED THEM TO CUT OUT THE ALUMINUM PLATES USING A WATER JET AND SO THE DESIGN ALONE TOOK ABOUT TWO HOURS FOR EACH AND THEN ABOUT ANOTHER HOUR TO USE THE WATER JET TO CUT THEM OUT AND JUST A QUICK NOTE ABOUT THESE THE 3D PRINTERS FOR MRS. JUNKIE'S CLASS, THOSE WERE ACTUALLY AWARDED THROUGH THE FRIENSHIP FOUNDATION AND THEN THE WATER JET FOR THE ENGINEERING CLASS THAT WAS PURCHASED THROUGH THE HIGH DEMANDS JOB TRAINING GRANT FROM LEDA AND WORKFORCE SOLUTIONS.

SO IT'S REALLY COOL TO SEE THOSE DIFFERENT THINGS FROM THE COMMUNITY AND OUR PARTNERS ACTUALLY BEING USED IN THE CLASSROOM SO THAT YOU CAN, YOU KNOW? YES, SIR.

I'M IN MY 12TH YEAR OF THE DISTRICT AND I CERTAINLY UNDERSTAND THE MUCH MORE IN MY 12TH YEAR THAN I DID MY FIRST YEAR OF THE IMPORTANCE OF STRATEGICALLY PLANNING AND SO AS I THINK BACK, IT WAS IN MY FIRST COUPLE OF WEEKS IN THE DISTRICT IN TWENTY TEN THAT THE BOARD ADOPTED THE TWENTY TEN STRATEGIC PLAN AND JUST TO REMIND THE BOARD AND MYSELF OF THE IMPORTANT WORK THAT YOU GUIDE AND I KNOW YOU TRY TO SORT OF MINIMIZE IT AND SAY ALL THE STAFF DOES ALL THE WORK, BUT YOU CREATE THE AVENUE FOR THAT TO OCCUR AND YOUR WISDOM IN HAVING COMMUNITY DRIVEN DECISIONS ON ART KIND OF OUR BIG ROCKS, OUR GOALS IN HOW WE ALLOCATE OUR RESOURCES AND THAT SORT OF THING.

SO WE DON'T JUST MAKE THESE DECISIONS ON OUR OWN AND IT WAS IN APRIL OF 2010 THAT'S BEFORE I CAME TO THE DISTRICT, BUT IT WAS IN APRIL OF 2010 THAT THE TEAM OF EIGHT AT THAT TIME DID A LOT OF WORK AND WITH SHARED DECISION MAKING COLLABORATION WITH OUR STAKEHOLDERS, PARENTS, TEACHERS, COMMUNITY MEMBERS DEVELOPED WHAT WE STILL TO THIS DAY USE AS OUR VISION STATEMENT SEEK PERFECTION, CAPTURE EXCELLENCE.

IT WAS ALSO IN APRIL OF 2010 THAT THE BOARD ADOPTED THE BELIEFS THAT WE STILL USE TODAY.

SO THE FACES HAVE CHANGED AND THERE ARE MORE FACES TO LOOK AT, BUT OUR BELIEFS DON'T REALLY CHANGE, AND I CAN TELL YOU THAT IT HAS BEEN IN THESE TUMULTUOUS TIMES THAT WE'VE BEEN DEALING WITH.

REALLY, IT'S TUMULTUOUS ON PLANET EARTH EVERY YEAR, BUT THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS IT IS OUR OUR BELIEFS.

THAT IS THE SORT OF THE FOUNDATION UPON WHICH WE'VE STOOD UP AND SAID, HERE'S WHAT WE'RE GOING TO DO FOR KIDS AND THIS WAS ADOPTED BY INNOVATE IN 2010.

SO HERE WE ARE AND THEN IN 2016, WE CAME WITH ANOTHER KIND OF FIVE YEAR, THREE TO FIVE YEAR PLAN. IT REALLY IT REALLY DOES DRIVE ALL THE DECISIONS THAT WE MAKE ON A DAILY BASIS AND SO IT WAS INTERESTING AS WE WENT THROUGH THIS STRATEGIC PLANNING PROCESS THAT SOME OF OUR NEWER EMPLOYEES TO THE DISTRICT SAID WE'VE NEVER PARTICIPATED IN A STRATEGIC PLAN IN OTHER DISTRICTS IN WHICH WE'VE BEEN AND THEN SO THAT WASN'T MY WISDOM TO START THIS PROCESS, BUT IT CERTAINLY.

IS GROUNDED IN RESEARCH IN THAT.

YOU KNOW, I THINK THAT FOR THE MOST PART, WE DO PROBABLY ARE KIND OF ALIGNED WITH OUR STAKEHOLDERS AND HOW WE BELIEVE AND THE THINGS THAT WE THINK ARE RIGHT, BUT THAT'S REALLY NOT THE POINT.

WE YOU BRING THEM IN TO HELP MAKE THE DECISIONS AND THEN WE ENSURE THAT WE'RE ON THE SAME PAGE BECAUSE YOU ARE ELECTED OFFICIALS, BUT WE'RE PAID EMPLOYEES AND WE'RE PAID BY AND THE TAXES OF, YOU KNOW, ALL OF THESE PEOPLE.

SO HERE WE ARE WITH THEM.

THE OTHER THING WE'RE REMINDED OF IS THAT STRATEGIC PLANNING HAS DRIVEN AND BEEN THE BASIS OF A LOT OF THE KEY DECISIONS THAT WE'VE MADE OVER THE YEARS IN THE 12 YEARS I'VE BEEN HERE. AND ONE OF THEM IS IT WAS IN THE 2010 STRATEGIC PLAN THAT AND IT PROBABLY WAS DONE BEFORE THAT, BUT FOCUSING ON GROWTH, THAT'S WHERE THE DECISION MAY CAME FROM TO LOOK AT GROWTH OF OUR HIGH SCHOOL AND THEN IF YOU ALL REMEMBER, THAT WAS ALSO PART OF THE TWENTY SIXTEEN STRATEGIC PLAN AND THEN IN TWENTY NINETEEN, WE HAD A LONG RANGE PLANNING COMMITTEE THAT CAME TOGETHER AND WE DIDN'T JUST COME UP WITH GOALS AT THAT TIME.

WE USED THE GOALS FROM 2010 AND 2016 AS THE FOUNDATION OF WHAT'S DRIVING THESE DECISIONS AND SO HERE WE ARE IN 2022 AND WE'RE PLANNING THE NEXT FIVE YEARS AND SO AS WE LOOK BACK, WE CAN SEE HOW IMPORTANT THIS IS.

SO BASICALLY THIS SLIDE JUST SHOWS YOU THAT FIRST THING IS WHAT WE DO IS WE BEFORE WE BRING TOGETHER THE DESIGN TEAMS. SO WE GET LOTS OF FEEDBACK.

WE BRING TOGETHER FOCUS GROUPS AND PARENTS, COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND STUDENTS, AND WE ASK THEIR OPINIONS ABOUT DIFFERENT THINGS.

WE HAVE BIG GROUPS WHICH ARE SUMMIT SMALL GROUPS WITH FOCUS GROUPS.

AFTER WE DO THAT, THEN WE BRING IN THE DESIGN TEAM AND THEN WE CREATE.

SO IT'S ALL A VERY METHODICAL PROCESS THAT WE STARTED PLANNING LAST SPRING.

IT WAS TWO FULL DAYS OF WORK AND ANOTHER THING ABOUT HAVING SHARED DECISION MAKING AND BRINGING IN YOUR COMMUNITY IS THAT IT HAS TO BE A MEANINGFUL ENGAGEMENT AND THEY HAVE TO WE HAVE TO DO IT IN A WAY WHERE WE BRING THEM IN AND THEN WE FOLLOW THEIR ADVICE AND NOT THAT IT'S JUST LIKE CHECKING THE BOX AND OK, WE DID THAT MEETING.

WE USED A FAIRLY NEW TOOL THAT'S AN ONLINE COLLABORATION TOOL.

IT'S CALLED [INAUDIBLE] EXCHANGE, AND IT'S LIKE, LIKE A REAL TIME TOOL WHERE YOU'RE GETTING PEOPLE'S FEEDBACK.

EVERYBODY IN THE ROOM HAS A CHANCE TO SHARE SOME FEEDBACK AND THEN OTHER PEOPLE IN THE ROOM GET TO KIND OF RATE THAT FEEDBACK AND THE MORE KIND OF STARS YOU GET, THEN THETHE HIGHER IT MOVES UP ON THE LIST OF KIND OF IN THE ROOM, THE PEOPLE THAT AGREE KIND OF WITH YOUR THOUGHTS. SO, YOU KNOW, SOMETIMES PEOPLE WON'T REALLY SAY IT, BUT WHAT YOU SEE HERE IS WE ASKED THEM A SERIES OF QUESTIONS AND THE FIRST ONE I WILL READ IT SAYS WHAT WILL SHAPE THE FUTURE OF EDUCATION IN THE NEXT 20 YEARS? PEOPLE HAVE ALWAYS TALKED ABOUT SOFT SKILLS, BUT WHAT I SAW MORE OF IS JUST, WE'RE BEGINNING TO UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANCE OF MR. DRAPER, YOU KIND OF BROUGHT IT UP.

IT'S JUST HOW WE TREAT ONE ANOTHER AND THERE'S SO MUCH MORE TECHNOLOGY THAN THERE WAS FIVE YEARS AGO AND THE USE OF IT, THE SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS AND COMMUNICATION IS ALWAYS BEEN IMPORTANT, BUT COMMUNICATION FACE TO FACE AND THAT IS BECOMING A LOST ART AND SO PARENTS ARE REALIZING THAT COMMUNITY MEMBERS ARE REALIZING THAT.

SO YOU CAN SEE SOME OF THE BIGGEST ONES IS COMMUNICATION AND IN COLLABORATION, ETHICS, INTEGRITY, ALL THOSE KINDS OF THINGS AND YOU GUYS, I WON'T GO INTO IT, BUT YOU GUYS KNOW FROM EARLIER IN THE WEEK THAT FRIENDSHIP IS KIND OF MAKING A PUSH FOR SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL LEARNING, WHICH IS ABOUT KINDNESS AND ANTI-BULLYING AND ALL THOSE SORTS OF THINGS AND THERE IS A SOCIAL MEDIA THING FOR NOT ANYONE, EVEN AROUND HERE IN A DIFFERENT PART OF THE STATE THAT SAW THAT WE WERE TEACHING SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL AWARENESS AND TEACHING ABOUT THAT, AND THEY CALLED US OUT AS IF WE'RE TRYING TO DO SOMETHING EVIL AND SO HERE IS JUST ANOTHER QUESTION HOW CAN BUSINESSES AND COMMUNITIES WORK TO HELP FRIENDSHIP PARTNERSHIPS? REAL WORLD CAREER PREP SHADOWING.

AND SO BEFORE I GET INTO THE GOALS, I JUST WANT YOU TO KNOW ONCE AGAIN THE IMPORTANCE OF THE WORK WE'VE DONE IN THE PAST.

SO AS WE WENT INTO THIS DESIGN PROCESS AND WE BROUGHT IN THE COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND MICHELA ANDREW WERE THERE IS THE VERY FOUNDATION BEFORE WE BEGIN THAT WORK IS WE START OUT WITH THE VISION THAT WE HAVE.

PEOPLE ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT RESOURCE.

ONE OF THESE THINGS THAT I LOVE AND I LOVE IT MORE EVERY YEAR CHARACTER IS ESSENTIAL TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF LEADERSHIP.

OUR COMMUNITY SEES IT.

WE'RE LOOKING TO BUILD AND EQUIP LEADERS, NOT JUST CONSUMERS.

SO I LOVE THAT FROM THOSE FROM THAT WORK.

ALSO, WAY BACK IN 2010, WE CALLED IT THE GRADUATE PROFILE BACK THEN, BUT WE CHANGED IT BECAUSE WE DON'T WANT OUR STUDENTS TO WAIT UNTIL THEY GRADUATE TO HAVE THESE SKILLS.

WE CONSIDER ALL OF OURSELVES LEARNERS, WHETHER YOU'RE AN EMPLOYEE OR A STUDENT, AND WE BUT THESE THE ADAMS DIDN'T CHANGE.

THE FOUR THINGS HAVE BEEN THE SAME ALL THROUGH THE YEARS, AND I LOVE THAT WE WANT KIDS TO BE RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS, AND WE'VE FURTHER DEFINED WHAT IT MEANS TO BE ACADEMICALLY EQUIPPED AND ALL THESE DIFFERENT ELEMENTS, THE BEHAVIORS THAT GO ALONG WITH THAT.

THEN WE TOOK THE BELIEFS.

THIS IS WORK THAT WE'VE DONE OVER THE LAST FIVE OR SIX YEARS.

WE DEFINED BASED ON OUR BELIEFS, WHAT IS IT THAT IF YOU'RE GOING TO WHAT DOES EXCELLENCE AND LEADERSHIP LOOK LIKE IN FRIENDSHIP? WHETHER YOU ARE AND I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT A TITLE, WHETHER YOU'RE A SUPERINTENDENT OR A PRINCIPAL, IT IS.

YOU WERE A LEADER AND WE WANT EVERYONE AND EVERY CHILD, EVERY TEACHER.

WE WANT THEM TO SEE THEMSELVES IN THE LEADER AND THEN WE GET INTO.

YOU SEE SOME OF THE DESIGNING PROCESS THAT WE'VE TALKED ABOUT.

YEAH, THAT PROCESS, I MEAN, I LOVED IT FOR TWO DAYS BECAUSE I WASN'T IN A SPREADSHEET AT ALL. IT ALSO IS A LOT OF FUN, GOT TO DRAW AND DO SOME ARTS AND CRAFTS, BUT IT WAS, IT WAS.

IT WAS AN INTERESTING FROM, LIKE YOU SAID, THE PEOPLE THAT WERE COMING IN AND THIS WAS THERE AND WE HAD SOME OTHER PRINCIPALS THERE TO SEE THE OTHER STAFF FROM THE DISTRICT THAT WERE INVOLVED AND IN THE COMMUNITY THAT WAS INVOLVED AND THIS WAS A DAWSON ACTUALLY STATED THAT HE DOES THESE ALL THE TIME, ALL OF THE STATE AND ONE OF THE COMMENTS HE MADE IS THAT HE NEVER SEES ONE OF THESE WHERE SO MANY COMMUNITY MEMBERS ARE INVOLVED THAT USUALLY IT'S JUST, YOU KNOW, JUST ADMINISTRATION OF THE DISTRICT AND IT'S MAYBE A COUPLE OF KEY CHOSEN PEOPLE THAT THEY KNOW WILL GO ALONG WITH WHATEVER THEY WANT.

SO REALLY, THE COLLABORATION, I THINK, IS WHAT IS SO KEY TO IT OF GETTING EVERYONE'S VIEWPOINT AND IT IS A PROCESS.

IT'S A PROCESS TO, I MEAN, FROM MYSELF, I WAS PART OF THE LONG TERM OR LONG RANGE PLANNING, AND I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THE LEARNER PROFILE WAS.

I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT ALL THESE THINGS WERE AND TO SEE ALL THE WORK THAT HAS BEEN DONE IN THE PAST. ONE, YOU APPRECIATE THAT MUCH MORE ABOUT ME AND THIS IS WHY THIS DECISION IS SO GOOD. BUT THEN THAT GIVES YOU THOSE BUILDING BLOCKS THAT YOU CAN TAKE THAT AND THEN THE DECISIONS YOU'RE MAKING, YOU'RE STILL HAVING THOSE GOALS IN MIND AND MAKING SURE WE'RE ACHIEVING AND STILL HONORING.

THOSE THINGS HAVE BEEN SET IN THE PAST AND SO THE TWO DAYS IS, I MEAN, IT'S A FANTASTIC PROCESS. YOU DO. I MEAN, YOU GOT TO BUY INTO IT, BUT YOU DO, YOU DO EASILY.

SO WE HAD STUDENTS ALSO.

YES, WE HAD TWO STUDENTS THAT WERE VERY REEVES VARIABLES.

WHATEVER THEY WERE, THEY WERE FANTASTIC.

I MEAN, IT REALLY WAS WE HAD ALL PERSPECTIVES THAT WAS AND THAT WAS REALLY NEAT AND IT WAS A PRETTY DIVERSE GROUP, BUT, YOU KNOW, IT WAS JUST A REMINDER THAT WE'RE MORE ALIKE THAN WE WERE DIFFERENT AND EVERYBODY JUST WANTS WHAT'S BEST FOR THEIR KIDS AND SO IT WAS A GOOD PROCESS. SO HERE IS LIKE, SO IT'S A LOT OF ARTS AND CRAFTS AND IDEAS AND SORTS OF THINGS, BUT IT'S LIKE, THEN HOW DO YOU GET THAT INTO ACTION? HOW DO WE TURN THAT INTO ACTION? AND SO WE HAVE A CALL TO ACTION, AND THAT'S ONE OF THE PROCESSES THAT WE WENT THROUGH AND I'LL LET YOU READ THAT, BUT IT'S BASICALLY, HOW ARE WE GOING TO TAKE ALL OF THESE GRANDIOSE IDEAS? AND THEN WE GOT TO GET TO ACTION.

WE GOT TO HAVE SOMETHING ACTIONABLE AND SO THEN THAT DESIGN TEAM, THE GROUP THAT MICHAELA ANDREW DESCRIBED, WE CAME UP WITH LEARNER OUTCOMES.

AND THEN THE OTHER BIG PART OF WHAT THEY DID IS THEY SET WHAT I WOULD CALL THE THIRTY THOUSAND FOOT VIEW, THE GOALS, SIX GOALS THAT'S GOING TO TAKE US FIVE YEARS TO ACCOMPLISH. SO THEY'RE VERY BROAD.

SO WE TOOK THOSE BROAD GOALS THAT THEY PROVIDED.

SO WHEN YOU SEE THE GOAL THAT WAS DEVELOPED BY THIS COMMUNITY GROUP AND I WON'T READ THE GOAL TO YOU, BUT WHAT I WILL SAY AND Y'ALL HAD YOU ALL KNOW THAT THIS IS THE WORK THAT GUIDES WHAT WE DO.

WE SET OUR GOALS TOGETHER AS A TEAM OF EIGHT, BUT IT GETS VERY SPECIFIC AND SO WHAT YOU THESE LITTLE BADGES OR LITTLE ICON THAT YOU SEE UNDERNEATH THE GOAL, THEY'RE NUMBERED AND IF IT HAS A ONE IN FRONT OF IT, LIKE ONE POINT ONE, THAT MEANS EVERYTHING GOES WITH GOAL ONE AND THEN THAT LITTLE YELLOW THING THAT JUST TELLS YOU, WE'RE GOING TO TRY TO TACKLE THAT IN THE FIRST YEAR AND REALLY, THESE AREN'T IN RANK ORDER.

IT DOESN'T, IF WE'RE DOING IT IN YEAR ONE, IT DOESN'T MEAN THAT SOMETHING IN YOUR THREE IS NOT IMPORTANT.

GOAL TWO. YOU ALSO HAVE IN THE PACKET THERE ON YOUR DESK, YOU HAVE THE GOALS, AND SO YOU SEE THE GOALS AND THEN WE CALL THEM SPECIFIC RESULTS AND BASICALLY, IT JUST GETS MORE AND MORE DETAILED ABOUT WHAT THE WORK'S GOING TO LOOK LIKE AND THEN WE TIMELINE THAT WORK OUT. OBVIOUSLY, YOU CAN'T DO ALL OF THIS IN A YEAR, SO WE PLAN IT OUT OVER THREE TO FIVE YEARS AND SOMETIMES WE HAVE TO CONTINUE ON THE NEXT YEAR OR IT CAN BE REARRANGED, BUT THEN WE HAVE OUR THIRD GOAL AND AGAIN, THAT SOME OF THE THINGS CONTINUE, WHICH IS RECRUIT, RECRUIT AND RETAIN EFFECTIVE STAFF AND THIS WILL NEVER CHANGE AND THAT IS THE MOST SIGNIFICANT PREDICTOR IN THE EDUCATIONAL OUTCOMES OF A STUDENT IS THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE TEACHER, THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE TEACHER AND OF COURSE, EVERY I CAN'T THINK OF ONE TEACHER WHO DOESN'T WANT TO BE EFFECTIVE.

EVERY TEACHER WANTS TO BE EFFECTIVE, JUST LIKE EVERY CHILD WANTS.

IT WAS ALMOST UNANIMOUS IN THE COMMITTEE THAT THEY PREFERRED DRAFT A, BUT WHEN WE PUT IT OUT TO THE COMMUNITY, THEY AGREED AND WE HAD ABOUT SEVENTY NINE PERCENT LIKE DRAFT A.

AND THAT'S THE ONE THAT ALIGNS WITH LUBBOCK ISD AND THE WINTER BREAK WHERE STUDENTS COME BACK ON JANUARY 9TH, AND THAT'S ACTUALLY A BIGGER GAP THAN WHAT WE'VE SEEN IN PAST YEARS AND SO YOU'RE ALSO ABLE TO LEAVE COMMENTS ON THE SURVEY.

WE HAD ABOUT TWO HUNDRED AND THIRTY NINE PEOPLE LEAVE COMMENTS, AND THE BIGGEST THINGS THAT WE SAW ON THOSE COMMENTS ARE BOTH PARENTS AND STAFF WANTED THE WEDNESDAY START, AND THEN THEY ALSO LIKED THE WINTER BREAK, HAVING NOT COMING BACK IMMEDIATELY AFTER NEW YEAR'S AND THEN ANOTHER BIG ONE WAS ALIGNING WITH LUBBOCK ISD BECAUSE WE HAVE SOME PARENTS WHO WORK FOR LUBBOCK ISD.

WE HAVE SOME WHERE THEIR KIDS GO TO LUBBOCK ISD, SO HAVING THOSE TWO WINTER BREAKS MATCH UP WAS REALLY IMPORTANT TO THEM AND SO WITH THE SURVEY RESULTS AND WITH THE COMMITTEE AND IN HOW THEY ALL AGREED, WE WILL HAVE A RECOMMENDATION IN FEBRUARY AND WE WON'T HAVE TO HAVE THAT THIRD MEETING THAT WE HAVE SCHEDULED LATER THIS MONTH.
