OTHER STUDENTS WHO RECEIVED AP SCHOLAR AWARDS, WE HAD ABOUT NINE STUDENTS ARE IN THE AP SCHOLAR WITH DISTINCTION, WHICH IS THE HIGHEST AWARD POSSIBLE.

TONIGHT WE HAD ADVANCED ACADEMIC COORDINATOR REGAN LAMBERSON, HERE TO HELP US HONOR THESE STUDENTS.

FIRST OFF, WE HAVE SOME THAT YOU'RE GOING TO HEAR THE DISTINCTION OF AP SCHOLAR.

THESE STUDENTS EARNED A THREE OR HIGHER ON THREE OR MORE AP EXAMS. THEN WE HAVE AP SCHOLARS WITH HONOR.

THESE STUDENTS HAD AN AVERAGE SCORE OF 3.25 ON ALL AP EXAMS AND A SCORE OF THREE OR HIGHER ON FOUR OR MORE AP EXAMS. FINALLY, WE HAVE SOME THAT HAVE THE AP SCHOLAR WITH DISTINCTION AS TIFFANY WAS SAYING.

OUR LONGTIME PARTNERS AT THE UNITED FAMILY FOR ONCE AGAIN, PARTNERING WITH OUR FRENSHIP HIGH SCHOOL CTE PROGRAMS. THIS TIME AROUND, THEY RECENTLY PARTNERED WITH OUR FRENSHIP HIGH SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION TECH PROGRAM FOR A SPECIAL PROJECT TO BENEFIT COURSES FOR CASA.

BUT BASICALLY, THIS IS AN ANNUAL FUNDRAISER FOR THE CORN APPOINTED SPECIAL ADVOCATES FOR CHILDREN WHERE THEY RAFFLE OFF CUSTOM-BUILT PLAY HOUSES AND THEY HELPED UNITED BUILD A MINI UNITED PLAY HOUSE.

BUT I'M GOING TO TOSS IT OVER TO OUR FRENSHIP CTE COORDINATOR, IRA FLOREZ TO TELL US MORE ABOUT THE IMPACT OF THIS PARTNERSHIP AND WHY WE HAVE UNITED HERE TONIGHT WITH US, IRA.

WE WERE EXCITED THAT UNITED CAME TO US WITH AN OPPORTUNITY TO BUILD THE FIRST UNITED SPONSOR.

THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THEY EVER HAD AN ENTRY TO RUFFLE AND THEY CHOSE US TO DO THAT.

OUR STUDENTS ARE VERY EXCITED ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN HOW TO BUILD A PLAYHOUSE AND TO SERVE OUR COMMUNITY IN THAT WAY.

UNITED HAS BEEN A BIG PARTNERSHIP WITH FRENSHIP ISD, AND THEY PARTNER WITH OUR CULINARY ARTS IN OUR FLORAL DESIGN PROGRAMS. THEY SUPPORT US AND OUR STUDENTS BY HOSTING DEMOS IN CLASS AND ALSO VIA ONLINE ACCESS TO VIDEOS THAT THEY ALSO SHELTER OUR STUDENTS TO LEARN THROUGH.

WE ALSO HAD SOME TEACHER PD THIS SUMMER THAT THEY PROVIDED OUR CULINARY ARTS TEACHER.

NOT ONLY ARE THEY IMPACTING OUR STUDENTS, THEY'RE REACHING OUT TO OUR TEACHERS AND IMPACTING THEM AS WELL.

I'M GOING TO TURN IT OVER TO TRACY POPE TO TELL A LITTLE BIT ABOUT BUILDING THE HOUSE AND THEN HE'S GOING TO INTRODUCE CARSON WHO'S GOING TO TALK ABOUT HIS EXPERIENCE WITH THAT.

[LAUGHTER] WE STARTED THE PROGRAM, AND WE GOT BEHIND THIS LAST YEAR AND WE WERE REALLY STRETCHED ON TIME ON GETTING IT DONE.

GUYS, YOU CAN SEE IN THE PICTURE, THEY CAME TOGETHER AND IT WAS LIKE A MACHINE.

IT ACTUALLY TOOK US NINE DAYS TO GET THAT BUILT.

BUILDING THIS YEAR, WE'RE GOING TO HAVE A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT PLAN AND THE FACT THAT WE WENT FROM TWO CONSTRUCTION ONE CLASSES TO THREE THIS YEAR.

EACH CLASS WILL ACTUALLY BE BUILDING THEIR OWN SHED AND THEN WE'LL MAKE IT A COMPETITION TO SEE WHICH ONE IS GOING TO BE ENTERED.

ONE OF THE OPPORTUNITIES THAT WE HAD AS WE WRAP UP THESE OFF AT THE VERY END, ONE NIGHT I WAS LOOKING AT MY PHONE, GETTING READY TO GO TO BED AND I SAW THIS EMAIL CAME ACROSS AND IT WAS A NAME I DIDN'T KNOW.

IT WAS THIS WOMAN TELLING ME THIS STORY ABOUT HOW SHE HAD WON NOT JUST A CONCEPT FOR CASA PLAYHOUSE, BUT THE MARKET STREET FOR CASA.

[LAUGHTER] SHE WAS SO INCREDIBLY EXCITED AND SO SHE HAD GOTTEN IT FOR HER GRANDKIDS AND THEY PUT IT IN THEIR BACKYARD.

SHE SAID IT FIT JUST PERFECT, LIKE IT WAS SUPPOSED TO GO THERE AND IT WAS ALWAYS MEANT TO BE THERE.

THESE KIDS IN THIS CLASS THAT WE'RE BUILDING THAT DIDN'T KNOW THAT YET, BUT THERE WAS A PLANE AND SO IT GOT TO ITS HOME.

SHE HAD A PARTY FOR ONE OF HER GRANDCHILDREN AT HER HOUSE, A LOCAL PARTY FOR THEIR BIRTHDAY.

AT THAT PARTY, THERE WAS ANOTHER GRANDMOTHER

WHO HAD BROUGHT SOME KIDDOS AND TWO OF THOSE KIDDOS, GRANDMOTHERS STARTED TALKING LIKE GRANDMOTHERS DO.

THE ONE WHO HAD BROUGHT THE KIDS TO THIS PARTY SHARED WITH THE OTHER WOMAN THAT HAD WON THE PLAYHOUSE THAT HER TWO GRANDKIDS HAD A CASA.

THEY HAD BEEN SUPPORTED BY CASA THROUGHOUT THEIR JOURNEY AND THEIR PROCESS THROUGHOUT THE CASA CARE SYSTEM, AND BECAUSE OF THAT, THEY WERE ABLE TO BE SAFE AND THEY WERE ABLE TO BE IN A PLACE WHERE THEY WERE LOVED AND THAT THEY NEEDED TO BE.

SO JUST THE FULL CIRCLE OF THAT WHERE THESE KIDDOS WERE BUILDING SOMETHING THAT THEY DIDN'T REALLY KNOW WHAT IT WAS GOING TO END UP AND THEY HAD A REALLY SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME TO DO IT, BUT THEY DID IT, AND FOR THAT TO COME FULL CIRCLE AND FOR SOME KIDDOS THAT WERE BENEFITING ON THE BACKSIDE OF THE FUNDS THAT WERE RAISED BY THAT, BUT ALSO ON THE FRONT SIDE AND GETTING TO PLAY IN IT AND JUST BE KIDS.

WE WERE VERY GRATEFUL FOR THOSE SWEET WORDS AND WE'VE GOT TO TELL THAT STORY AND SHARE THAT STORY.

OF COURSE, PLUMBING, AS YOU KNOW, PLUMBING CAME TO US FROM ONE OF OUR GREAT COMMUNITY PARTNERS, INFORMING US THAT THE STATE PLUMBING BOARD OF EXAMINERS HAD OPENED UP, NOT JUST THE PATHWAY OF PLUMBING WHICH HAS EXISTED, BUT AN OPPORTUNITY FOR STUDENTS TO EARN A TRADESMAN LIMITED LICENSE BY GOING THROUGH OUR PROGRAM OF STUDY.

WE JUMPED ON THAT PRETTY FAST AND VISITED SOME OTHER SCHOOL DISTRICTS AND SAW WHAT THEY DID.

WE'RE VERY FORTUNATE MR. HERNANDEZ HIRED A FANTASTIC TEACHER,

HE IS A 42-YEAR MASTER PLUMBER.

THE KIDS LOVE HIM.

WE'RE VERY EXCITED TO HAVE HIM.

WE ALSO DID A LITTLE NEWS STORY.

IT WAS PICKED UP BY THE PLUMBING BOARD OF EXAMINERS, SHARED ON THEIR SOCIAL MEDIA.

NOW WE'RE GETTING CALLS AND EMAILS FROM ALL OVER THE STATE AS IF WE INVENTED PLUMBING, AND I THINK [LAUGHTER] WE'RE JUST THE FIRST ONES TO DO IT AFTER THE NEW LICENSE STARTED.

IT'S REALLY GOING TO BE A GREAT PROGRAM.

THERE'S ALWAYS THE QUESTION WHEN YOU START, HOW MANY KIDS ARE GOING TO WANT TO DO THIS? WE HAVE A STRONG CONSTRUCTION PROGRAM AS YOU SAW MR. [INAUDIBLE] DONE A GREAT JOB BUILDING THAT.

BUT HOW MANY KIDS WILL BE INTERESTED? INITIALLY, WE HAD 26 THAT SAID, HEY, WE WOULD BE INTERESTED IN PLUMBING AND THE OPPORTUNITIES THAT BRINGS.

CURRENTLY WE HAVE 54 IN THE PROGRAM, AND SO WE'RE EXTREMELY EXCITED ABOUT THAT AND THE GROWTH THAT WILL HAPPEN WITH THAT.

HERE'S A TEASER FOR THE FUTURE.

WE HAD A COMMUNITY PARTNER THAT HELPED US OUTFIT THIS PROGRAM WITH MATERIALS TO START THINGS UP, AND SO THERE WAS A GREAT CONNECTION THERE THAT WAS MADE AS WELL.

YOU CAN SEE THIS. THIS WAS ACTUALLY THE CONSTRUCTION TECH STUDENTS BUILT THIS TRAINING HOUSE.

THEY'RE SHARING THE SHOP WITH PLUMBING, THE [INAUDIBLE] SHOP.

YOU CAN SEE THAT THERE'S SOME PIPE STORAGE ON THE SIDE OF THAT, THAT'S WHAT THOSE RACKS ARE.

IT'S PAIRED BEAMS SO KIDS CAN GET UNDERNEATH, THEY CAN RUN PIPE, THEY CAN INSTALL FIXTURES, ALL OF THAT.

IT'S SOMETHING WE CAN PULL DOWN, TEAR APART, AND THEN THOSE EXPERIENCES CAN HAPPEN AGAIN THE NEXT YEAR.

WE'RE REALLY EXCITED ABOUT WHERE THIS IS GOING.

A LITTLE TIDBIT TO ADD INTO THAT, WE HAVE ADOPTED A CURRICULUM OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS FOR CONSTRUCTION THAT WE ALSO ADOPTED FOR PLUMBING.

IT WAS AN AGREEMENT AMONG THE ADMINISTRATION THAT IT WAS THE BEST THING FOR KIDS, EVEN IF IT DIDN'T COUNT TOWARDS ALL OF THOSE ACCOUNTABILITY THINGS THAT HAPPENED, BUT IT'S WHAT OUR HOMEBUILDER PARTNER SAID WAS THE BEST THING FOR KIDS AND WE TRUSTED THEM, AND NOW THAT WILL BE INCLUDED.

THAT HAS BEEN INCLUDED IN THE NEW INDUSTRY-BASED CERTIFICATION LIST.

WE'RE VERY EXCITED TO SEE THAT THERE AND TO HAVE THAT ALREADY IN PLACE AT FRENSHIP AND ROLLING ALONG.

IF YOU REMEMBER THE BIG ROBOTS THAT THE HIGH SCHOOL BUILD, THEY'RE 100, 120 POUNDS, THEY'RE BIG, THEY CAN BE EIGHT FEET TALL WHEN THEY EXTEND.

YOU SEE THE SIZE COMPARISON FOR THIS ONE, IT'S LIKE AN ERECTOR SET.

IT'S A LITTLE BIT OF A THROWBACK TO CHILDHOOD.

LITTLE BIT BIGGER THAN LEGO ROBOTICS, WHICH WE HAVE AT ALL ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOLS.

ADDED THIS INTO OUR MIDDLE SCHOOL CAMPUSES, USED FEDERAL FUNDS.

THIS WAS A REQUEST THAT ACTUALLY CAME TO DR. MCCORD FROM OUR MIDDLE SCHOOL PRINCIPALS TO BUILD THIS INTO AS PROGRAMMING.

JUST BEFORE COVID, WE WERE ABLE TO GET IT IMPLEMENTED THIS LAST YEAR.

VERY SUCCESSFUL, OUR MIDDLE SCHOOLS DID A GREAT JOB, OUR COACHES DID A GREAT JOB.

WE HAD SEVERAL TEAMS WINNING AWARDS, AND ONE TEAM THAT ADVANCED TO THE REGIONAL COMPETITION, WHICH IS ALSO HERE IN LUBBOCK, SO THEY'RE ONE STEP AWAY FROM TRAVELING DOWN SOUTH AND GOING TO STATE.

THAT'S NOTABLE FOR A COUPLE OF REASONS.

FOR A ROOKIE TEAM IN FIRST, WHICH IS AN INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION TO COME IN, THAT CAN BE TOUGH.

THEY DON'T HAVE THE CULTURE, AND THE BASE OF SUPPORT, AND THE COACHES, AND THE MENTORS, AND ALL THOSE THINGS EXISTING THAT TEAMS BUILD OVER THE YEARS, SO FOR A ROOKIE TEAM TO BE THAT SUCCESSFUL IS GREAT.

ALSO PRETTY NOTABLE BECAUSE THEY'RE MIDDLE SCHOOLERS, AND MANY OF THE TEAMS THEY ARE COMPETING AGAINST WERE HIGH-SCHOOL STUDENTS, THEN THAT'S THE TOP LEVEL THAT THEIR SCHOOL COMPETES AT.

THEY WERE COMPETITIVE AS MIDDLE SCHOOLERS WITH HIGH SCHOOLERS, AND WE'RE VERY PROUD OF THEM.

THEY'RE ROLLING ALONG.

ALL THE COACHES ARE ROCKING AND ROLLING, THEY'VE HAD THEIR KICKOFF.

WE'VE GOT SOME TEAMS THAT ARE BEING ADDED AND NEW MATERIALS ARE BEING PURCHASED SO FTC IS OFF TO A RUNNING START THIS YEAR ALREADY.

THEN THE LAST ONE I WANTED TO GIVE YOU AN UPDATE ON, INCUBATOREDU.

YOU KNOW WE HAD A START OFF YEAR.

WE HAD A NEW TEACHER THIS LAST YEAR.

COACH DENNING, OUR GIRLS SOCCER COACH CAME IN, DID AN ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC JOB.

I BELIEVE WE HAD 18 STUDENTS WHEN WE COMPLETED THE YEAR.

WE HAVE ANOTHER YEAR OF 20 PLUS THAT HAVE ENTERED THE CLASS.

I THINK WE HAVE SIX TEAMS, AND WE'LL BE BRINGING IN THEIR MENTORS AND COACHES AND GETTING THEM ROLLING THIS COMING YEAR.

WE PITCHED TO THE COMMUNITY AS THEY HAVE IN THE PAST AND SELECTED A WINNER AND ENTERED THEM INTO A NATIONAL PITCH COMPETITION THROUGH THE PROVIDER OF OUR CURRICULUM, INCUBATOREDU CURRICULUM, AND THEY ENDED UP BEING NATIONAL QUARTER FINALISTS IN THAT.

WE'RE VERY PROUD OF THEM.

THEY WERE BASICALLY A STEP AWAY FROM TRAVELING TO CHICAGO OVER THE SUMMER AND COMPETING IN-PERSON AT THE NATIONAL CONFERENCE.

THAT'S OUR GOAL TO GET THAT NEXT GROUP THAT WAY.

WE HAD A LOT OF APPS.

APPS ARE A LITTLE BIT DIFFICULT TO WRAP YOUR ARMS AROUND IN THIS KIND OF A CLASS SO THIS YEAR, VERY HAPPY THAT WE HAVE ALL PHYSICAL PRODUCTS THAT KIDS WILL BE PROTOTYPING AND BUILDING AND FIGURING OUT.

IT'S BEEN VERY POSITIVE.

THE COMMUNITY OUTPOURING OF SUPPORT FOR THIS PROGRAM HAS BEEN FANTASTIC AND THEY REALLY DRIVE IT.

HERNANDEZ HAVE ONGOING IS BUILDING OUT MORE EXTERNAL INTERNSHIPS AND PRACTICUM EXPERIENCES FOR OUR STUDENTS, MAKING SURE THAT WE'RE GETTING THEM OUT THERE INTO EMPLOYERS WITH AN OPPORTUNITY TO MOVE ON INTO EMPLOYMENT, GETTING GREAT HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE, SO PARTNERSHIPS FOR THAT.

CONTINUING TO GROW OUR YOUNG ALUMNI PROGRAM, WHICH HAS BEEN GREAT.

WE WANT TO HAVE A GREAT INTERACTION WITH CURRENT STUDENTS, EMBED THAT INTO OUR CLASSROOMS AND OUR TEACHERS TO ENSURE THOSE FOLKS ARE COMING IN.

CONTINUE LONG-TERM PARTNERSHIPS LIKE THINGS WE SEE WITH UNITED SUPERMARKETS, SUPPORTING FULL PROGRAMS IN WAYS THAT ARE UNIQUE AND INNOVATIVE AND MAYBE FILL A GAP FOR STUDENTS AND FOR TEACHERS ON THE SUPPORT THEY NEED.

BUT AS YOU MOVE OUT FURTHER OUT INTO THE FUTURE, IT'S A LITTLE BIT LESS ACCURATE AND THEY TELL YOU THAT BECAUSE YOU'RE PROJECTING FURTHER OUT TO THE FUTURE.

SO 2009, THAT'S WHEN THE DEMOGRAPHIC REPORT WAS DONE.

I CAME IN 2010.

THEN FAST FORWARD TO 2019 WHEN THE END OF THOSE 10 YEAR PROJECTIONS AND IT WAS UNCANNY ALMOST HOW THEY DIDN'T GET EVERY GRADE LEVEL RIGHT.

BUT THE TOTAL NUMBERS, THEY HAD ONLY MISSED BY A COUPLE OF 100.

AGAIN, WE HAD A RECESSION IN THERE IN 2010.

I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT ALL THE SCIENCE BEHIND IT IS BUT IT HAS WORKED FOR US IN THE PAST.

JUST THAT, YOU KNOW, WHILE I APPRECIATE RICHARD SKILL SET.

WE HAVE A DEMOGRAPHER THAT HELPS US MAKE THESE PROJECTIONS BECAUSE WE WANT THEM TO BE AS ACCURATE AS POSSIBLE.

BECAUSE WE UNDERSTAND THAT THESE ARE NOT JUST BOUNDARY LINES FOR BUILDINGS.

THESE ARE PEOPLE'S DECISIONS AND THEIR DECISIONS THAT IMPACT THE LIVES OF OUR FAMILIES, THOSE WE SERVE THERE, HOW THE MOMS DO AND DANCE DO DROP-OFF IN THE MORNING BUS ROUTES, ALL THOSE THINGS, TEACHERS.

THEN IN JANUARY WOULD BE AN ACTION ITEM FOR THE BOARD.
