SHE WAS SELECTED FOR THE 2022/2023 TEXAS GIRLS COACHES ASSOCIATION 6A ALL-STATE TEAM.

NOT ONLY IS SHE THE ONLY FEMALE ATHLETE IN OUR AREA SELECTED FOR THE 6A ALL-STATE TEAM, BUT SHE IS ONE OF ONLY 23 STUDENTS ACROSS THE STATE OF TEXAS TO RECEIVE THIS HONOR.

IN ADDITION, SHE WAS ALSO THE CHAMPION FOR OUR DISTRICT IN THE CROSS-COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP.

TONIGHT, HEAD CROSS-COUNTRY COACH, JEFFERY BIGHAM JOINS US TO RECOGNIZE HIS STUDENT ATHLETE.

SHE IS A JUNIOR, AS SHE SAID.

A COUPLE OF OTHER THINGS. SHE REALLY IS ONE OF THE MOST TERRIFIC ATHLETES AT FRENSHIP HIGH SCHOOL.

AS A SOPHOMORE, SHE WAS ALL DISTRICT IN CROSS-COUNTRY AND ALL DISTRICT IN TWO RACES IN TRACK.

SHE WAS ALSO SECOND TEAM ALL DISTRICT IN SOCCER AND IS A STARTER ON OUR DISTRICT LEADING UNDEFEATED SOCCER TEAM AT THIS POINT.

WE ARE RECOGNIZING OUR CHOIR ALL-STATE QUALIFIERS.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THREE FRENSHIP HIGH SCHOOL CHOIR STUDENTS FOR THEIR RECENT SELECTION TO THE TEXAS MUSIC EDUCATORS ASSOCIATION ALL-STATE CHOIR.

THE TEXAS ALL-STATE IS CONSIDERED THE HIGHEST HONOR A TEXAS MUSIC STUDENT CAN RECEIVE.

ACROSS THE STATE, NEARLY 2,000 STUDENTS ARE SELECTED THROUGH A PROCESS THAT BEGINS WITH OVER 70,000 STUDENTS FROM AROUND THE STATE FIGHTING FOR THIS HONOR TO PERFORM ONE OF 18 ENSEMBLES.

ONLY THE TOP 2.6 PERCENT OF MUSICIANS WHO INITIALLY AUDITIONED BECOME ALL-STATE MUSICIANS.

THESE THREE FRENSHIP HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS JUST PERFORMED WITH THE ALL-STATE CHOIR ON FEBRUARY 11TH IN SAN ANTONIO.

FRENSHIP HIGH SCHOOL CHOIR DIRECTOR, AMY MOSS, IS HERE TO HELP US RECOGNIZE THESE STUDENTS.

THEY'RE WONDERFUL LEADERS IN CLASS AND INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THEY DO ALL KINDS OF THINGS,

I FEEL LIKE THE MUSIC THIS YEAR WAS MUCH HARDER AND THEY JUST WENT THROUGH A LOT.

THEY DID FOUR INTENSE ROUNDS OF AUDITIONS THAT START AS EARLY AS SEPTEMBER AND THEN GO ALL THE WAY UP THROUGH JANUARY.

THAT INCLUDES CITE READING MUSIC THAT THEY'VE NEVER SEEN BEFORE AND THEN PREPARING COLLEGIATE LEVEL PIECES, I THINK IT WAS 10-12 THIS YEAR, TO A HIGH CALIBER.

THAT JUST TAKES A LOAD OF DEDICATION.

OF NOTE, ALL THREE ARE MADE FOR ALL-STATE CHOIR AS FRESHMEN AND THEN WE HAVE TWO THAT ARE RETURN ALL-STATERS AND THAT'S REALLY INCREDIBLE.

RYDER KEEPS GOING STRONG AND MAKING THE ALL-STATE GROUP ONCE IS VERY DIFFICULT ENOUGH, BUT TO ACCOMPLISH IT TWICE AND EVERY TIME THAT HE'S AUDITIONED IS EXTREMELY SPECIAL.

DIEGO MADE IT ON THE TROMBONE. HE'S A SENIOR.

THIS IS HIS FIRST TIME MAKING THE ALL-STATE GROUP WHO PERFORMED WITH THE CONCERT BAND.

DIEGO HAS BEEN A VERY STEADY ROCK FOR US IN THE LOW BRASS SECTION.

WE'RE GOING TO REALLY MISS HIM NEXT YEAR. DIEGO STEVENS.

HE MADE IT ON PERCUSSION AND HE'S A JUNIOR.

THIS IS HIS FIRST TIME MAKING THE ALL-STATE GROUP AND PERFORMED WITH THE CONCERT BAND.

ONE OTHER AWESOME NEWS ABOUT NOAH IS HE'S AN EXTREMELY ACCOMPLISHED JAZZ DRUM SET PLAYER AS WELL, AND PLACED 11TH OVERALL OUT OF 60 THROUGHOUT THE STATE OF TEXAS.

THIS IS THE HIGHEST PLACEMENT A STUDENT AT FRENSHIP HAS EVER MADE IN THE JAZZ AUDITIONS.

SUPER EXCITED TO SEE HOW WELL HE EVEN DOES NEXT YEAR. NOAH LUNA.

LASTLY, TO MY RIGHT IS HALLEY SEVERS.

SHE'S A SENIOR CLARINET PLAYER AND THIS IS HER FIRST TIME MAKING ON ALL-STATE GROUP.

TRULY THOUGH, I DO THINK SHE WOULD HAVE MADE IT LAST YEAR, BUT IT WAS UNFORTUNATE WITHIN UNFORTUNATE TIME OF SICKNESS, BUT HALLEY IS BY FAR THE BEST HIGH-SCHOOL MUSICIAN I'VE EVER TAUGHT.

SHE'S PLAYED SOME MAJOR SOLOS WITH THE MARCHING BAND, THE CONCERT BANDS, HAS BEEN DRUM MAJOR IN THESE PAST FEW YEARS.

I'M EXTREMELY EXCITED ABOUT HALLEY'S FUTURE WHEREVER SHE CHOOSES TO PURSUE AS WELL. HALLEY SEVERS. [APPLAUSE]

>> [BACKGROUND] FOR OUR LAST RECOGNITION THIS EVENING, FRENSHIP ISD WOULD LIKE TO RECOGNIZE AND SAY THANK YOU TO FIVE FRENSHIP HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS WHO CURRENTLY SERVE ON DR. MCCORD, SUPERINTENDENT STUDENT ADVISORY BOARD.

THESE STUDENTS WERE SELECTED AS MEMBERS OF THE STUDENT ADVISORY BOARD DURING THE END OF THEIR EIGHTH GRADE YEAR.

DR. MCCORD RELIES ON THESE STUDENTS FOR THEIR VALUABLE INSIGHT, ASSISTANCE IN COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS, AND SERVING AS STUDENTS AMBASSADORS DURING THE COMMUNITY BUSINESS TOURS OF FRENSHIP FACILITIES.

THESE STUDENTS SERVE AS VALUABLE LIAISONS TO FHS AND PROVIDE VALUABLE FEEDBACK REGARDING ONGOING CAMPUS PROJECTS, EVALUATIONS, AND IDEAS.

THEY PARTICIPATED IN NUMEROUS COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS, INCLUDING THE ORGANIZATION AND DISTRIBUTION OF FOOD BACKPACKS ALONGSIDE THE ROTARY CLUB, AND CREATING BLANKETS FOR CANCER PATIENTS AT EMC.

TONIGHT, FRENSHIP SUPERINTENDENT DR. MICHELLE MCCORD WOULD LIKE TO RECOGNIZE THESE GREAT STUDENTS FOR THEIR SERVANT LEADERSHIP IN OUR DISTRICT AND COMMUNITY.

YOU'VE ALREADY HEARD THAT THEY'VE DONE A LOT, THEY CAN DO A LOT IN ACROSS THE FOUR-YEAR SPAN.

I'M SO GRATEFUL REALLY FOR THIS PART OF MY JOB THAT ALLOWS ME TO GET TO BE AROUND THESE WONDERFUL LEARNERS THAT WE HAVE.

ONE OF THE THINGS THAT MY JOB TAKES ME AWAY FROM, THERE'S WONDERS AROUND MORE ADULTS THAN ANYONE ELSE.

BUT THESE STUDENTS ARE AMAZING AND THEY REALLY ARE THE HOPE OF THE FUTURE.

IF YOU GET DOWN AND OUT TO LIKE WE WERE EARLIER, WE WERE IN A BUDGET WORKSHOP.

IT WAS REALLY OKAY, BUT IT'S ALL OF THEM.

WE'RE IN A LEGISLATIVE SESSION AND IT CAN GET POLITICAL AND DIVISIVE AND JUST IT'S EASY TO BECOME CYNICAL AFTER A WHILE, BUT WHEN YOU ARE AROUND YOUNG PEOPLE AND THESE ARE JUST REPRESENTATIVES OF THOUSANDS THAT WE HAVE HERE IN FRENSHIP, YOU DO HAVE HOPE FOR THE FUTURE.

I JUST WANT TO TAKE JUST A SECOND TO REVIEW SOME OF THE SPECIFICS WITH OUR CALENDAR COMMITTEE AND THE PROCESS THAT WE'VE WORKED THROUGH THIS SPRING.

JUST A REMINDER ABOUT THE CALENDAR REQUIREMENTS.

THE STATE REQUIRES A MINIMUM OF 75,600 INSTRUCTIONAL MINUTES FOR STUDENTS, 187 DAYS FOR TEACHERS, AND THEN TWO BAD WEATHER DAYS.

IT WAS ON THIS COMMITTEE, AND HOW OFTEN DO WE MEET? IT WAS A GROUP OF 30 PLUS.

THERE WERE REPRESENTATIVES FROM ALL OF OUR CAMPUSES, ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE SCHOOL, AND HIGH SCHOOL.

THERE WAS DISTRICT STAFF FROM EACH DEPARTMENT HERE AT CASEY COMMUNICATIONS, C&I STUDENT SERVICES, PEIMS, BUSINESS OFFICE, AND HUMAN RESOURCES.

THERE WAS ALSO PARENTS INCLUDED ON THE COMMITTEE WITH CHILDREN IN ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE SCHOOL, AND HIGH SCHOOL.

WE STARTED BY LOOKING AT BASICALLY TWO CALENDAR DRAFTS.

YOU CAN SEE ON THE NEXT TWO SLIDES BASICALLY JUST A RUNDOWN OF THE START DAY OR THE STAFF START DAY, WHEN THE STUDENTS START, WHEN THE WINTER BREAK WOULD BE, AND THEN JUST SOME BUILT-IN HOLIDAYS IN THE SPRING.

THIS CALENDAR WE START ON THE 7TH AND THEN STUDENTS START ON WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 16TH AND THEN YOU CAN SEE WINTER BREAK.

ON THIS CALENDAR OPTION IT STARTS DECEMBER 21ST, STAFF RETURNS THE 4TH, AND STUDENTS RETURN ON JANUARY 8TH AND THEN THERE'S A STAFF AND STUDENT HOLIDAY ON THE 19TH AND STAFF DEVELOPMENT ON THE 26TH.

THEN WE ALSO TOOK A CAREFUL LOOK AT CALENDAR DRAFT B.

CALENDAR DRAFT B ALSO HAD AN AUGUST 7TH START DATE FOR STAFF, A WEDNESDAY START DATE FOR STUDENTS, AND THEN WINTER BREAK WAS A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT.

YOU CAN SEE ON THIS DRAFT WE START WINTER BREAK DECEMBER 22ND, STAFF RETURN ON JANUARY 8TH, AND THEN STUDENTS RETURN ON JANUARY 10TH, BUT YOU CAN SEE THOSE TWO STAFF DAYS ON JANUARY 8TH AND 9TH.

THEN FEBRUARY 19TH IS A STAFF DEVELOPMENT STUDENT HOLIDAY.

WE ALSO PUSHED OUT A SURVEY.

THE SURVEY OPENED ON JANUARY 12TH AND IT CLOSED JANUARY 18TH.

EVERYONE IN THE DISTRICT WAS SURVEYED AND WE ALSO PUSHED IT OUT TO OUR COMMUNITY AND TO OUR PARENTS ON ALL OF OUR SOCIAL MEDIA OUTLETS.

WE UTILIZED ALL OF THOSE COMMUNICATION METHODS.

ADDITIONAL BREAKDOWN FROM WHAT YOU SAW LAST TIME IS JUST, WHAT PERCENTAGE OF PARENTS, COMMUNITY, AND THEN EMPLOYEES ANSWERED THE SURVEY? YOU CAN SEE FROM THE BAR GRAPH, WE HAD A LOT OF OUR PARENTS THAT RESPONDED, SEVERAL COMMUNITY MEMBERS, AND THEN OF COURSE SEVERAL EMPLOYEES AS WELL.

WHAT WAS THE PREFERENCE? WHAT DID THIS SURVEY SAY? OF COURSE, EVERYONE FAVORED DRAFT B: 556 PARENTS, 448 STAFF, AND THEN 117 COMMUNITY MEMBERS FOR A TOTAL OF 1,857.

SOME OF THE ADDITIONAL COMMENTS, JUST TO REVIEW FROM LAST TIME.

MANY COMMENTS WERE IN FAVOR OF DRAFT B BECAUSE IT ALIGNED WITH LUBBOCK ISD'S CURRENT DRAFT.

OF COURSE, MOST OF THE CALENDAR, MOST OF THE COMMENTS CENTERED AROUND THAT WINTER BREAK, AND HOW MUCH TIME WILL WE HAVE DURING THAT HOLIDAY BREAK.

SOME VOTED FOR B BECAUSE MORE TIME IN JANUARY, OTHERS FOR A BECAUSE STUDENTS RETURN TO SCHOOL EARLIER [NOISE].
