BACK IN NOVEMBER, ALL OF OUR FRENSHIP CAMPUSES NOMINATED A TEACHER THAT THEY THOUGHT WOULD BE A GOOD FIT FOR THIS AWARD.
THROUGH A SELECTION PROCESS, FRENSHIP NARROWED THAT DOWN TO ONE TEACHER TO BE RECOGNIZED AS THE DISTRICT AND SO THAT PERSON WAS MR. HOLLOWAY.
AND THEN IN APRIL, DURING THE AWARD CEREMONY AT LCU, HE WAS THEN RECOGNIZED AS THE OVERALL WINNER, WHICH IS THE LCU AWARD OF EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING.
THIS AWARD IS PRESENTED ANNUALLY TO REMARKABLE EDUCATORS IN RECOGNITION OF THEIR DILIGENT EFFORTS IN EDUCATING TOMORROW'S GENERATION, AND AS ENCOURAGEMENT FOR THE TANGIBLE IMPACT THEY MAKE THROUGH THE LONG HOURS AND DEDICATED COMMITMENT TO THEIR STUDENTS, AND THIS IS FRENSHIP'S THIRD CONSECUTIVE YEAR TO HAVE A TEACHER WIN THAT OVERALL LCU AWARD.

FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS, HE HAS SERVED AS THE FRENSHIP HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL, AND HE HAS BECOME A WELL LOVED LEADER AMONG THE STAFF AND STUDENTS.
EACH YEAR, THIS PRESTIGIOUS AWARD RECOGNIZES OUTSTANDING CAMPUS PRINCIPALS WHO GO ABOVE AND BEYOND.
AS THE REGION 17 HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL OF THE YEAR WINNER, HE IS NOW IN THE RUNNING FOR THE OVERALL TEXAS HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL OF THE YEAR AWARD.

ROBOTICS WAS NOT A SCHOOL SPONSORED ACTIVITY AT ALL AND WE HAD A LOT OF KIDDOS WHO WERE GOING TO THE FIRST, WHAT DOES THAT SEND FOR, I FORGOT. INSPIRATION IN TECHNOLOGY.
>> SOMETHING. [LAUGHTER] THE ENGINEERS, TECH PROFESSORS, KIDS, A LOT OF JUST REALLY HIGH BROW PEOPLE AND THEIR KIDS WERE PARTICIPATING IN IT.
IT WASN'T A SCHOOL ACTIVITY, AND SO THEY WERE BEING COUNTED ABSENT FOR GOING TO THIS COMPETITION BECAUSE IT WAS NOT A SCHOOL SPONSORED EVENT AND WE WERE GETTING SOME COMPLAINTS ABOUT THAT, SOME ISSUES.
THEY GOT ORGANIZED, WHICH WAS FINE, BUT WE DIDN'T REALLY KNOW HOW DO WE DO THIS? WELL, TO MAKE IT A SCHOOL SPONSORED EVENT, WE NEEDED A SPONSOR AND SO MR. HOLLOWAY VOLUNTEERED TO DO THAT.
THIS IS BEFORE IT WAS RECOGNIZED AROUND THE STATE AND ALL OF THAT.
BUT HOW MANY YEARS AGO WAS THAT? MR. HOLLOWAY, DO YOU REMEMBER?

[LAUGHTER] WE HAVE THREE LANGUAGES THAT ARE LEADING THE WAY, SPANISH BEING NUMBER 1 WITH 471, VIETNAMESE WITH 44 AND THEN FILIPINO WITH 36.
QUITE A RANGE IN IT. TOTAL, WE HAVE ABOUT 656 EMERGENT BILINGUAL STUDENTS HERE IN FRENSHIP ISD.
OUT OF THE 656, WE HAVE 225 DUAL LANGUAGE STUDENTS PRE K THROUGH 12.
FIFTH GRADE DUAL LANGUAGE STUDENTS CAN LEAVE WILLOW BAND WITH SPANISH 1 CREDIT.
OF COURSE, THEY HAVE TO MEET A SPECIFIC CRITERIA.
THERE'S THREE OR FOUR PIECES OF CRITERIA THAT THEY HAVE TO MEET IN ORDER TO OBTAIN THAT SPANISH 1 CREDIT, LEAVING FIFTH GRADE GOING INTO TERRA VISTA IN SIXTH GRADE.
BY THE TIME THEY GET TO EIGHTH GRADE, WE PROVIDE THEM WITH TWO OPPORTUNITIES TO OBTAIN THAT SPANISH 1 CREDIT THROUGH TEXAS TECH TEST.
IN '24, '25, WE ARE FIRST CLASS TO HAVE MORE THAN EIGHT GRADUATE STUDENTS FROM FRENSHIP HIGH SCHOOL THAT OBTAINED THE SYLLABI LITERACY.
THIS IS THE FOURTH YEAR, WE HAD MORE THAN WHAT WE'VE HAD BEFORE.
OUR NUMBERS ARE GROWING IN THAT AREA.
AS I MENTIONED, THIS IS THE FOURTH ANNUAL SYLLABI LITERACY BANQUET THAT WE'VE HAD.
FRENSHIP ISD ALSO CONTINUES TO PARTICIPATE IN THE THIRD THROUGH EIGHT SPANISH SPELLING BEE.
THIS IS THE FIFTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR AND WE HAVE QUALIFIED FOR NATIONAL SIX YEARS SO THAT'S THE TESTAMENT TO OUR TEACHERS DOING A PHENOMENAL JOB IN THE DUAL LANGUAGE PROGRAM IN GETTING OUR STUDENTS PREPARED.
ONE THING THAT THEY'VE ADDED FOR THIS YEAR IS THAT NOW INSTEAD OF GOING FROM REGIONALS TO NATIONALS, WE'RE GOING FROM REGIONALS TO STATE, THEN TO NATIONAL SO ONE MORE STEP, WE HAVE TO HURDLE BEFORE WE GET INTO NATIONAL.
ONE OF THE THINGS THAT'S REALLY A HIGHLIGHT OF OUR PROGRAM IS THE TITLE 3 PARENT MEETINGS.
WE HAVE INFORMATIONAL PARENT MEETINGS, PARENT ENGAGEMENT MEETINGS, AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT MEETINGS ACROSS THE DISTRICT AT ALL CAMPUSES.
WE HAVE THEM TUESDAYS AND WEDNESDAYS EVENINGS.
ONE OF OUR FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEACHERS DOES THE ADULT ESL CLASSES IN THE EVENINGS.
WE STARTED OUT STRONG, ABOUT 15, 16 PARENTS THAT PARTICIPATE, BUT JUST BASED ON LIFE HAPPENING THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, WE USUALLY END UP WITH FIVE OR SIX, MAYBE SEVEN AT THE END OF THE YEAR.
I GET GOOD FEEDBACK ON WHAT THEY'RE LEARNING AND THEY'RE GLAD TO PARTICIPATE.
